Work Anywhere, Achieve More: The Oracle EBS Mobile Transformation

About the Client

The client is a leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor based in the United Arab Emirates. With a strong presence across the Middle East, the company has been instrumental in delivering complex infrastructure, industrial, and oil & gas projects. The organization employs a large and diverse workforce, including a significant number of field workers, engineers, and administrative staff.

Challenges

Core Challenge: High Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) licensing cost resulting in limited access and increased total cost of ownership (TCO).

The company was relying on Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) as their central enterprise application. However, this system had limitations:

  • Limited Access: To reduce licensing costs, access to EBS was often restricted to administrative and office staff via desktop or web browsers. Field employees and workers were completely excluded.
  • Lack of Mobile Support: Since Oracle EBS is a web-based application, it was not optimized for mobile usage, making it difficult for employees on the move or on-site to interact with the system.
  • Field workers had to rely on supervisors or admin teams for basic operations such as payslip access and important announcements – leading to delays.
  • Laborers and on-site staff were disconnected from the company’s digital systems, increasing administrative overhead.

Our Solution

We developed and deployed a custom mobile application tailored specifically for the client’s workforce. This solution was designed to extend Oracle EBS functionalities to all employees — including workers — in a secure and user-friendly mobile environment.

Self-service features included:

  • Leave requests
  • Notifications and alerts
  • Payslip & salary slips
  • Multi-language support for broader usability
  • User-specific dashboards
  • Holidays
  • Announcements

Employees can now use the app both on-site and remotely — removing dependency on office infrastructure.

Impact & Benefits

The mobile solution transformed the way the company operates on-site and off-site:

  • Wider Accessibility: All employees, regardless of role or location, can now interact with enterprise systems from their mobile devices.
  • Improved Efficiency: Field workers can perform responsibilities directly, reducing delays and manual dependencies.
  • Better Communication: Instant notifications and updates bridge the gap between field and office.
  • Reduction in Licensing Cost: By moving routine self-service to the mobile layer and avoiding broad desktop licensing needs.
  • Easily Deployable: Quick rollout across sites and devices with minimal IT overhead.
